The Common Pheasant ( Phasianus colchicus Linnaeus ) is a galliform bird. It is a medium-large sized bird, its dimensions are comparable to those of a domestic rooster. The plumage has different colors in the various breeds, which, more or less hybridized, are present in our country. The males have bright colors with characteristic scarlet caruncles around the eye, while the females have inconspicuous, camouflage colors, essential during hatching.

Due to its marked adaptability, it can be found in the most varied environments: from woods to more or less cultivated areas, to humid plains with rushes and reeds to poplar groves.

Terragnolo, not infrequently perches on trees, especially at night, has a strong and rapid rather horizontal flight.
