The Blackbird ( Turdus merula ) is among the most common birds in Italian cities. The species presents an evident sexual dimorphism which manifests itself mainly in the size and color of the plumage. The male has completely black plumage, with a bright yellow to orange beak and eye contour; the female, on the other hand, is dark brown in color. Its singing is very familiar and is especially appreciated for the cheerful melody of its verse.
